Where: JCDecaux offices, Paddington, London

When: 13 September, 3-5pm with networking drinks afterwards.

How can owned media, such as council publications, and paid media, including Out-of-Home and audience-targeted TV advertising, stay relevant in the Metaverse, Web 3.0 and increasing use of Artificial Intelligence?

We’ll be looking at bringing cutting-edge technology and traditional channels together to explore what the future holds for comms channels in local public sector organisations.

The event will be hosted by a prominent industry figure and we are encouraging Heads of Communications, Deputies and Marketing or Media Managers to attend.

In addition, we will have the following initial contributors leading the discussion:

  • Carly Davis, Media and Campaigns Manager, London Borough of Lewisham
  • Chris Dooley, Head of Social Impact, JCDecaux UK
  • Tiffany St James, Digital Industry Educator on the Metaverse and Web 3.0
  • Stephen Wild, Head of Sales for Sky AdSmart and a 20 year veteran across different media platforms

Topics covered:

  • What are the current go-to tools for public sector communicators that have worked effectively for the past 5 years and during the pandemic? For media owners: what trends are you seeing in terms of campaigns being planned and run to fulfil public sector objectives? How do they achieve the current key challenges, and what areas are struggling to keep up in the modern marketing mix?
  • What are some of the best examples of innovation during the pandemic, Ukraine or Cost of Living crisis that we can use to shape the future comms landscape?
  • Where are the areas of opportunity to use new technology (ie Metaverse, Web 3.0, virtual or augmented reality) – do we know what these are yet or even the potential benefit of these to reach new hard to reach communities?
  • Is ‘the old-school vinyl’ of comms making a comeback (eg direct mail and outdoor advertising during the pandemic) to reach new hard to reach communities? If so, is this partially down to ‘digital remastering’ (eg digital ad-boards or SMS messages in addition to physical mail for Vaccination appointments?)
