Blog: Take control of your development – apply to Future Leaders

Are you passionate about comms and looking for an opportunity to learn and develop in a supportive environment? Are you ready for the next step in your career?

If the answer is yes, then LGcomms’ Future Leaders programme is for you… apply now to be part of an exceptional training programme that will help you be ready in your own mind to grab that new and exciting opportunity when it next comes along.

As part of the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Meet colleagues from across the country, in similar stages of their careers, to form a peer support network and learn in an open, honest and supportive environment.
  • Learn from the best – you will be exposed to some of the most brilliant experts and leaders in our field.   A balance between learning and theory but grounded in reality allowing you to apply your learning in your workplace straightaway.
  • Be matched with a mentor who will encourage you think about what you want and what you bring to you current and future roles.

I was part of the 2019/20 cohort and the programme gave me a unique opportunity, for the first time in a long time, to take myself away from my own organisation and learn with like-minded people.

I was able to take a deep dive into my own self-awareness in a positive and supportive setting – learning more about my leadership and management style, my confidence, my performance and the impact I had on others.

“The programme gave me the extra nudge and encouragement I needed to apply for a more senior role part way through the course.  It helped me bridge the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be.  I was more confident and mentally prepared, making sure I was ready to take on a new challenge with both passion and enthusiasm.”

My advice to anybody thinking of applying is…don’t overthink it and get your application submitted.  It is a fantastic opportunity you don’t want to miss out on.
