Work experience placements
We know that lots of communication teams get approached for work experience – often from peers within their own organisation who are looking to support their children or younger relatives.
Though there is nothing wrong with supporting requests like these – it can be helpful to think about what this means for the future diversity of your team.
Is facilitating ad-hoc requests from colleagues the most effective way of giving experience to a diverse range of young people? Or might a more coordinated approach be more effective in promoting diversity within our sector?
Your own organisation may have clear policies in place for work experience to ensure opportunities are given to young people fairly.
