Free webinar: 28 January 2025, 12 noon, Teams
Local authorities are collectively leaving £millions on the table each year in potential revenue and free ad value.
It’s locked away in their owned media estates.
According to research we commissioned for LGcomms last year, 60% of councils are expecting to have less budget next financial year.
Yet just 5% know the real sums they could earn from their owned media.
This isn’t the best situation to be in when budgets continue to be tight and when there is uncertainty around the eventual shape of English local government after devolution.
Does this sound like your council? Sign up for this free webinar for some useful learning.
About this webinar
The webinar aims to support councils to identify and find ways to overcome barriers to generating advertising revenue from their media estates during this budgeting period – so your potential can be realised over the coming financial year.
It will cover:
- Which assets make up a council’s media estate and how you can earn advertising revenue from them individually or as a package in the next financial year and beyond.
- How council heads of communications around the country are taking the lead to unlock untapped advertising value and reinvest in campaigns that can lead to major service savings in areas like fostering and adult care.
- Practical steps you can take now to protect and enhance the value of your advertising contracts to be on the front foot for the “English devolution revolution”.
CAN has been generating income for councils for the past decade via its Council Advertising Network.
In the webinar, we’ll bring our own expertise and also hear from local authorities who have been on a range of different journeys – from easy wins to innovative income generation ideas – so you can begin to shape what your version of success could look like.
Who is this webinar for?
This webinar is open to anyone working in a local authority who has an interest in releasing revenue from its owned media – or getting a better deal from current contracts.
We want to encourage heads of service and financial directors to give permission to their heads of comms to take charge of realising the ad value in their media estates and reinvesting it to deliver service savings.
And we want to encourage heads of comms to understand more about the potential for making their paid media cost-neutral or even cost-negative by doing so.
Following the webinar, we plan to set up the Council Advertising Value Hub for those interested in coming together online regularly over the next year for further webinars and peer support.
