New CPD accreditation to benefit LGcomms members

LGcomms has now become CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accredited through its partnership with the PRCA.

This means anyone who attends workshops, events and the Public Service Communications Academy, will gain points helping them to reach their yearly target of personal development.

The PRCA partnership allows LGcomms members to register for CPD and gain the benefits of this arrangement. Any employee of an LGcomms member organisation will be able to sign up to the programme, which requires 160 points to be completed and logged throughout the year’s cycle between 1 October and 30 September.

Simon Jones, Chair of LGcomms, said: “It is extremely important that as public sector communicators, we continue to develop our skills and stay on top of new trends and changes in our industry.

“At LGcomms, this is one of our key objectives and this new arrangement means our members will benefit from our relationship with the PRCA by being able to register for CPD and track their own development.”

Francis Ingham, Executive Director of LGcomms, added: “This latest partnership between LGcomms and the PRCA will give LGcomms members a formal structure in which to advance their professional development.

“It is another great addition to our offering to public sector communicators.”
